BLS
Modern livestreaming studio.

The Corona pandemic has fundamentally changed all communication processes. Internal events and customer events are only possible to a limited extent, communication channels have become impersonal. The railroad company BLS is in the same situation as many other companies. The solution: a modern and multifunctional livestreaming studio.

As a modern employer, BLS has set itself the goal of implementing meetings, workshops and events for both external and internal communications virtually or in a hybrid format in the future. This need is based on the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, which made direct communication with employees and external stakeholders difficult – a situation that is likely to continue for some time.

With our experience in modern corporate communications and in the implementation of virtual and hybrid event formats, we were able to advise Switzerland’s second-largest railroad company in this process since the fall of 2020. The analysis showed that in the future, for strategic and financial considerations, a dedicated livestreaming studio within BLS is the only sensible way forward.

For Barbara Weber, head of the editorial team at BLS, having her own studio is a milestone:

«Since Corona at the latest, communication has changed in the direction of moving images and livestreaming. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the specialists at Newsroom Communication and our own studio, there are now completely new possibilities for our internal and external communications.»

It took just three months from the definitive start of the project to the commissioning of the BLS studio in a former meeting room on the Bollwerk. The studio is designed for a wide variety of formats and, in addition to webinars, presentations, discussion rounds and interview formats, also allows external speakers to be connected directly to the studio. Thanks to the latest technology, fully automated camera systems and automated processes, the studio can be operated with only one person, including image, sound and lighting control. After an introductory and training phase, a “power user” group of BLS employees took over operation of the studio independently.
